Great recap of the Gonzo saga.  Now we can re- remember some of the things he can't "recall" and survey everyone's "gut feeling" on the future. . .

This is kinda fun Roxy.... I started hunting thru diaries last night and found this tidbit:

what do we know about Hatch's mouthpiece Peter Carr?

http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_6661550

Article Last Updated: 08/19/2007 12:43:26 AM MDT

Rumors persist that Sen. Orrin Hatch will be nominated to take over as U.S. attorney general should the scandal-embroiled Alberto Gonzales resign. No matter the denials by Hatch and his office that he is not considering giving up his day job to move to the Department of Justice, politicos in Utah and Washington continue to spread the idea of Attorney General Hatch.
Now, another shake-up is pushing the rumor further. Hatch's incredibly capable mouthpiece, spokesman Peter Carr, is taking a post as deputy director of public affairs at the Justice Department, a White House appointed position. Carr, who makes the move this week, says there is no truth to the rumor of Hatch's departure and no link between the senator and Carr's job change.
Carr, by the way, has a master's degree from George Mason University and a bachelor's from Brigham Young University, and worked at Richter7, Salt Lake City-based advertising and public relations agency, before moving into a political career.

I'm thinking it gives you one heck of a sense of admnistration priorities.  If Cherthoff is that important to Bush, why isn't he staying at Homeland Security?

A mini trip down memory lane, from a prior commentary of mine:

Homeland's "2SR" reorganization about domestic spying?

Sat Dec 17, 2005 at 03:56:05 PM EST
Chertoff's Second Stage Review of Homeland Security (2SR) is a plan for a major re-organization of the Bureaucracy of DHS. In trying to find out what might happen to FEMA, I stumbled across a chilling, if speculative, possibility: DHS could become home to domestic intelligence operations.

Who is Solicitor General Paul Clement The guy that will be replacing GONEzo.

Congress needs to demand a special prosecutor to investigate all of the politicization of government in exchange for meeting halfway in any nomination. This is the one opportunity they have the leverage to do so.
