Miss New Orleans; Apres Katrina -- Discussion

by rcs1

"I know what it means, to Miss New Orleans."

The news, of course, is the inane procrastination in saving the place -- a slowness beyond those of sensual, languorous notes from a sad, so sad, sax ... or even that of the lanquid dropped note of a longing flute.

The jazz has changed.

Check out the video "I know what it means, to Miss New Orleans," and then tell us: What do you think, will NOLA ever regain its former glory?

Photographs by Friđgeir Helgason who lived there for 14 years and returns every six months to visit.

Video and audio editing mapgraphs.

Located in one of the lowest spots in the United States, the Big Easy is already as much as 17 feet (five meters) below sea level in places, and it continues to sink, by up to an inch (2.5 centimeters) a year.  [Joel K. Bourne/NatlGeo:  New Orleans - A Perilous Future (Aug 2007)]

NOLA has left the building.

Look at some of the visions for the future of Tokyo:

Why can't we have a vision for a place below sea level?

This looked really interesting. New Orleans and the Netherlands - Living Below Sea-Level

Half of the Netherlands is below sea level. But hey, it's much more important to pump billions of dollars into the banks who had nothing to do with Wall Street's poor money management than to rebuild New Orleans.

ah, floats yer' boat.  [CNN coverage of those floating houses].

is the "accuracy in reporting" even with the visuals.  Date and location are clearly indicated so that images are not "photoshopped" nor used to make sly statements.  The images and the music do evoke a mood -- that's the artists at work, but all the evidence is provided for "truth in reporting."
