Public Service -- Discussion

by rcs1

In his Opinion Editorial, Keith Barratt discusses his period of public service in the United Kingdom. That experience returned to him as he watched Lurita Doan give her testimony and he was compelled to react.

"I do know that today I listened to Lurita Doan give evidence during the U.S. Congressional hearing on the General Services Administration and I was both shocked and angry by what I heard: truly shocked, but most of all angry, because Ms. Doan represented a critical part of what I have done in my life, and she shamed me and shamed many of those like me.

"Ms. Doan is a person from the private sector who has been brought into government to head up an agency, an agency that by all accounts was inefficient and failing in many regards."

Nicely done, Welshman.

Lurita Doan is just another in a long line of politically connected narcissists who believe they are perfect. Good lord, look how quickly they collapse into a rage if anyone questions their actions.

I'd like to recommend a new motto for the Bush administration: "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do to pillage your country's treasury."

Pretty much sums it up.

And that feeling you picked up in listening to Lurita is pervasive in our government right now.
