The New York Times got hold of a draft copy of a report on election research from the Election Assistance Commission Guess what they found the panel had done when comparing the draft to the final version?
[...]played down the findings of experts who concluded last year that there was little voter fraud around the nation[...] Where else have we heard Republican complaints of voter justifying something recently? That's right, it was the reason for firing at least two U.S. Attorneys. commentary :: :: :: buzz-it! The original report on fraud cites "evidence of some continued outright intimidation and suppression" of voters by local officials, especially in some Native American communities, while the final report says only that voter "intimidation is also a topic of some debate because there is little agreement concerning what constitutes actionable voter intimidation." Native American communities also is a common theme from the U.S. Attorney firing scandal. mswsm has written twice on the DOJ Native American Issues Subcommittee (NAIS) being gutted as five of the fired U.S. Attorneys including the chair are gone. See USAs: Disruption of Corruption Investigation via Committee? Chiara and Ryan and USAgate: Disruption in Corruption Investigations-- NAIS, ABRAMOFF, ROVE AND CHENEY for more background. Read the full piece in the NYT and add your thoughts. More to come later on the history of this report that isn't in the article.
