Request for More Information and Verification: Pelosi, Conyers and Impeachment

by rcs1

From this comment in my recent diary over on DailyKos, dove12348 relates a particularly chilling tidbit:
Unfortunately there are things that...
...can't be tracked.

http://slate.com/...

Pelosi has threatened the removal of Michigan Rep. John Conyers from his chairmanship of the House judiciary committee if an impeachment inquiry were even opened, according to reliable congressional chatter.

OK, folks -- who can help pull together some additional detail around this?

Please post what you can find here, where I'll be trying to coordinate more information on this.

Here's the question I want to try and answer: The article from Slate is from August 21, so how does the current state of affairs affect any potential investigation by Conyers?

I'm with you, I want to know.

Hell, there are very few who stood against the theft in 2004, Conyers was a lone voice in the wilderness.  I won't think twice about ditching Pelosi.

I mean, espECIALLY on this matter.

received on this over at Docudharma, particularly this one and this one, there may be a lot of stuff happening beneath the "still waters" of Congress's backwater...

To the extent possible Conyer's Committee should hold only closed-door hearings.  After all, the first phase of the proceedings is to determine whether there is enough evidence to indict (impeach).

I agree with the critics here that public hearings could devolve into political theater, consume vast amounts of  the media-scape, and close the House to equally important business.
