Future Headline: American People Convicted of Negligent Genocide. International Driver-license Revoked.

I have some failing hope that we'll turn the Titanic at the last second but my dark-moment fears are resurgent.

We Americans fell for the greatest conjob of modern history just three years ago.  I felt that had to be the 2x4-magnitude blow to the head that can wake the comatose.

I should have known better.

Our favorite TV show should be renamed American Idle Mind because it looks as though we're lined up by the millions to audition for rerun of the greatest conjob.

This Is the Way It Ends: Attack on Iran May Be Imminent (by areophany).

What other evidence would the world need than to watch no rebellion or coup d'etat play out as The World's Only Superpower is fooled a SECOND time by The World's Greatest Idiot?  Instead, even the supposed political opposition prepares to align itself with the stupidest President.

Bits and pieces of the appropriate aphorism are strewn across the cultural landscape but whatever those little bits say, we are living in absentia the reasons for our future indictment.

Lightning Doesn't Strike Twice.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
I'll get on my knees and pray we don't get fooled again

Jesus: "Watch out that you are not deceived." (Luke 21:8)

George: "You can fool some of the people all the time, and those are the ones you want to concentrate on." (At a Washington dinner, March 2001)

The Bush/Cheney/PNAC cabal has acted time and again as if they are above the law, and time and again the self-preservationists in Washington haven't countered with extreme measures of their own.

There will be a breaking point. And unless it comes soon, I am also of the opinion that coming days could potentially be darker than we could ever imagine.

All we can do is keep fighting the good fight - lead the way. There will come a point when those who have been sleepwalking through this American nightmare wake up and get behind us.

Let's not lose sight of that.......one person can make a difference.  Remember, you can choose to light a candle or surrender to the darkness....let's be the candle!

We don't need them all - just enough to tip the scales of justice back in balance.

I believe we will achieve critical mass soon enough.

Iran. Oh, I'm like you lauptifer -- hoping that the Titanic hasn't split in two yet, ready to rush to the bottom at any moment (or should be using Hidenburg references ala Colbert?) This is kind of OT, but thought I'd add it. I was doing some Google searching and came up with something interesting by accident this past week:

U.S. and Britain Rehearse Occupation of Iran as Named 'Korona'

The United States and Britain have been collaborating on a war game meant to be an invasion of Iran for reasons related to the nuclear activities there, a real concern for the international community, the Guardian wrote.

The Guardian wrote that the British military officials went over "fictitious scenarios" for an invasion of Iran when they were invited one year after the invasion of Iraq to respond to a plan from the United States Defense Ministry, the Pentagon.

The war game came out as codenamed "Hotspur 2004" at the United States base of Fort Belvoir in Virginia in July 2004. It entailed a future invasion of "Korona," a fictitious Middle Eastern country, in 2015. "Although the planners said the game was based on a fictitious Middle East country called Korona, the border corresponded exactly with Iran's and the characteristics of the enemy were Iranian," the Guardian wrote.

What I'd stumbled upon was a FreeRepublic posting of a news clip -- almost hate to provide the link, but here it is.

What jumped out at me was the name of the fictional country: Korona. Korona means 'Crown' in Hungarian. Now, somebody over there joked, "Bush named it after his favorite Mexican beer. Too bad he mispelled it!" Ha! Yes, in spanish crown = corona with a 'c'. But, in Hungarian crown = korona. An exact match. Why the heck am I talking about Hungary in all of this?

I posted this a week or so ago:

We all know that Iraq is the cradle of civilization; a very ancient culture. My parents are from Hungary. What many people don't know about Hungary, a central European country, is that our language is unlike any other in Europe. It isn't based on Latin; and, although we have structural similarities to the Finnish language (which led people centuries ago to group our language with the Finno-Ugric), more and more evidence exits today that shows it's actually a very ancient language with ties to the ancient Sumerian, Mesopotamian culture based near modern Iraq.

When I listen to the news from Iraq, and hear some of the towns and areas that our troops are fighting and dieing in it becomes very strange for me because I understand some of the names of these ancient cities. The words are still used in the Hungarian language today. Take a look at a few examples. Notice that they describe important and timeless things?

  • Ur = Master (in ancient Hungarian culture, there were three Gods, Ur was one step down from Isten, the supreme God. The third God is female, Boldog Aszony or Happy Lady)
  • Hit = Faith
  • Kut = Well (as in water)
  • Tigris = Tiger

And Korona = Crown.

Do these people envision invading Iran as their crowning jewel?

to the Turkic language group (which I think Farsi is, right, the Persians lingo?) or is Sumerian more like the Arabic/Semitic root which I assume the Mesopotamian language(s) to be closer to?

I recognize Ur from somewhere, was kinda thinking the Indian subcontinent but I'm probably thinking of Urdu.  Of course, I understand Urdu is partly Arabic in origin so maybe not that far off.  The Romany (you probably know, once upon a time 'gypsies') are supposed to have origins in the same area, any connection there?

Or some more remote source related to way too much science fiction reading way too long ago.

If you ever see any such thing, please let me know of links you find for...I like this kind of stuff and would love to see the multidemsional overlay of the linguistic and genotypic maps that chronicle human migration, colonization, conquest, and empire.

We're a pretty amazing buncha chimps hanging on that branch of the primate family tree.  Even though it was not a trail of gifted blossoms left along the migration route, the story to be inferred is utterly fascinating.

And even moreso when it plays into forensic analysis of farce through clues like those you've discovered.

We need to do a follow up story to Korona, and the upcoming wargames.  Congress is involved??   Bastards just sit back and let us stumble from one mess to the next.

Which Congress persons?

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2006-04-18-war-games_x.htm

July's war game will be the first on Iran to involve members of Congress, but several other military exercises have focused on Iran. Last week, for example, the British military confirmed a London newspaper's report that it joined the United States in a July 2004 war game involving Iran at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. A report in The Guardian said U.S. and British officers played out a scenario involving a fictitious country called "Korona" with borders and military capabilities corresponding with Iran's.

Similarly, a 2003 Marine Corps planning document envisioned a conflict in 2015 with Korona, again a country corresponding to Iran.

A 2004 war game coordinated by the Army's Training and Doctrine Command featured an invasion of "Nair," another Iran equivalent.
