We're Going to YearlyKos!

Thanks to all of you who volunteered to help staff our table!

Let the ePMedia YearlyKos Planning Team know if you are going and want to meet and greet! Email us at leads@epluribusmedia.org. Check out who is going and what's what at: Yearly Kos Updates

We received an invite to MediaGiraffe Summit — in Massachussetts, June 29th through July 1. Helen Thomas is the keynote speaker. Registration is limited to 1000 participants. If anyone is interested in going — we've been offered a discounted registration of $200.00 per individual, if ten ePluribusMedia folks register. We have no connection with MediaGiraffe, other than they offered this discount. To find out more check out their invitation and their program. If you are interested in going, email us at Editors@epluribusmedia.org or post a comment in the signup commentary about the summit in Public Notice.

What Happened in March?

No surprise that DailyKos won the Koufax for best Community Blog. But what a delight for us that we made it to the final round of ten! And oh, what company we keep! Kos, TPMCafe, Huffington Post, Street Prophets, Bring it On!, MyLeftwing, Booman, Panda's thumb, and MyDD.

Congratulations to all the winners, and especially to Georgia10 — who received the Koufax for Best Commenter!

public notice :: :: :: buzz-it!
March Journal Stories You May have Missed:
  • Jeff Huber and Jerry Soucy provided a great background piece of Dominos Pizza Founder Tom Monaghan’s Pizza Pilgrimage.
  • Kay Shepherd and Vivian Pettyjohn arranged an interview with Margo Cowan, a lawyer with the No Mas Muertes. Cowan can be heard in the podcast interview here: An Interview with Margo Cowan. As immigration issues heat up with the desert summer, Shepherd and Pettyjohn will be lining up more interviews.
  • It took us longer than we hoped to get the sites up, and by the time we did, the Propaganda and Plagiarism series seemed cold, but recent events made three pieces done by Charlie Wilson, SusanG, Ron Brynaert and, one, Guidelines on the Community site, by Luapitfer, relevant to us and to Citizen Journalism.
  • Aaron Barlow added part 3 to his series on Responding to Criticism: Education in America.
and March Goings On at the Community site
  • Susie Dow gave us an up front close and personal report Si, se puede: From the March in Los Angeles on the Los Angeles Immigration March.
  • RenaRF gave us our closest whiff to date of live blogging as she covered Markos's and Jerome's book signing in DC (cross posted on Kos and ePluribus Media Community).
  • rba gives us our daily links and news and an open thread...always interesting food for thought!
  • Welshman has continued to keep us informed about goings on and the view from his side of the pond; XicanoPwr gives us the news from the Southwest, and Land of Enchantment has provided the details of Pombo's inroads, literally, into the national parks.
  • Jeff Huber continues his amazing analysis of the run up to the Iraq War as well as the tenuous legal grounds for much of this administration's activities.
  • ilona has been a tireless advocate for PTSD sufferers through her many commentarie and her work with JeninRI on the PTSD timelines, linked to by no less than FOX News. (Dubious Achievement Awards indeed!)
  • JimStaro has contributed many sources where readers can find help for Veterans and for PTSD suffers.
  • Great new commentaries on the community site include those by Renee in Ohio, seenos, Man Eegee, Duke1676, Captain Future, wanderindiana, Timroff, avahome, jeninRI, populistamerica, Vivian Pettyjohn, rba, mataliandy, Jeff Huber, Aaron Barlow, BarbinMD, Luaptifer, dem4evr with his first post!, standingup, cra nc , Cedwyn, Kfred.
Other March Stuff about our Sites:
  • Kudos to Radish, ubikkibu, RabidNation, txj and Standingup for fighting off the gremlin attack on the sites at the beginning of March. We were down for a few hours, but those guys pulled out the bug spray and took care of the problem. Who knew BugMan would also fall?
  • Moody Loner, doing Cheers and Jeers stand in duty on Kos, gave this shout out: Moody loner's cheers and jeers link. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/3/6/8508/69450

CHEERS to ePluribus Media in general and for this story in particular. Environmental Prevarication Agency? Department of the Inferior? Priceless.
  • Welshman left a lovely comment on the Koufax Finalist voting thread:
    ePluribusMedia
I am totally impressed by this site. It is outstanding for its collaborative work, the willingness of its contributors to subjugate their individual efforts and personal recognition to enhance group work, their dedication to high standards and their real attempt to bring a new element into liberal progressive blogging. It is a site that everyone of us should hope will go from strength to strength.
  • Traffic to the site continues to grow steadily. Three out of the past four months have seen more than 10,000 visitors-- and the average for the last three months has been approximately 12,500
Coming Soon

Start looking for news of ePluribus Media get togethers and doings at the YearlyKos Convention! We are still organizing!

Other highlights coming down the pike:
  • Timroff will have some new gear for us at the store, click here ePMedia Store (or on the ePmedia Store link in the menu at the upper right on the Community site).
  • There's a task force working on reworking our sites... it's many months out, but the web folks are planning to take advantage of some of the newer Scoop features and integrate the Journal/Community/Investigates sites more tightly.

If you like what we've been doing, don't be shy about volunteering to help with YearlyKos, the timelines, editing, fact-checking, creating graphics for stories, writing book reviews, or just participating in the Community site by posting commentaries or comments. And of course, consider donating to keep the servers humming. If you have a tip, please submit it to leads@epluribusmedia.org.

If you have a story you'd like to submit for publication as an ePluribus Media article in the Journal (as opposed to posting as a commentary on Community), submit it to editors@epluribusmedia.org. For information and some guidelines, check out the submissions guidelines.

And don't forget, if you have any book buying planned, consider Powell's. Clicking through the Powell's bookstore ad at the bottom of the home page on the ePMedia Community site gives us 7.5%!

You make the "us" in ePluribus Media a reality.
