Photos from the Lamont Rally at UCONN --Updated with a couple more shots of Lieber-Youth

by rcs1

The rally was held to kick off Lamont's Stand Up for Change bus tour. But first, what would a photo album of a Lamont Rally be without the KISS float?

Below the fold, more photos -- Lamont, the crowd, CTKeith

commentary :: :: :: buzz-it!
Lots of folks -- good crowd -- and some incredibly rude Lieber-youth.

When Ned said that the Democrats need to retake congress and stand up to Bush, the Lieber youth booed. (Sounds like some real Democratic support, there. /snark)

When Mary Glassman (running for Lt. Governor) said, we need to help Connecticut kids afford tuition at UCONN, one Lieberman youth shouted out, "I can afford my college." (nice.)

Oh, the Lieber-youth booed the mention of Joe Courtney (running in CT-CD02 against Rob Simmons, the worst Bush rubber stamp in Connecticut) -- How's that for evidence that the Lieberman supporters are Bushites?

Course, then, the speaker commented on their Vote Joe signs and thanked them for showing their support for Joe Courtney. Kiss float was there, CTkeith was there handing out Kiss buttons. And the Lamont folks were handing out nice watch hats and tee shirts.

Above, Ned, Mary Glassman, Bryan Hurlburt on the platform.  I loved the two guys with the HUSKIES for LAMONT sign on the bedsheet.  Everytime the Lieber-youth tried to bounce up and down with their "Stick with Joe" signs (they truly were obnoxious), these two big guys just put up their sign in front of them.

Here's one of the Joe signs they were covering up:

I said something to the effect "No, no, you should be proud to stand up for what you do."

One young lady stuck her tounge out at me (must have been my Lamont pin, cuz I am really a very unthreatening looking lady) and another older gentleman, who had a stack of Joe signs which he couldn't seem to give away, also put his sign up to hide his face.

But others were proud which was cool. One kid was kind of cool, proud, a cyber punk type; I had to admire his attitude when I said I wanted to take his picture. He smiled and posed.

Oh, and they took the watch hats and put their Joe bumper stickers over the front which said "stand up for change," but neglected to cover up the Ned Lamont for Senate on the back.

Still busy with family staying over, school, have had 2 reporters contact me for interviews on PTSD (one from the St. Petersburg Times), classes, campaigns I'm trying to donate time to, the Timeline updates, the book chapter edits are coming back from my publisher as we speak, and our review, too. Yikes. But of course no different than anyone else here manages to juggle, so I'm not expecting any sympathy from any of you over-achievers. :o) Much will get done this weekend, so I'm not stressing...just rushing.

Hope you're gearing up for your final GOTV weekend, too, Cho. Thanks again for this update (and all of the others). You have certainly been working hard out there in CT...and I'm sure it's going to pay off in the end as hard work always does.

Go, Ned, go!
