RIP
Here is National Review's TRIBUTE
i'm sure many of us recall them, times not THAT long ago when i claimed to be -- and actually was -- moderate. small "L" principles have always been important to me.
in those times i'd reach across the philosophical divide to search for real discussion because i wanted to participate in the true exchange of ideas that might refresh my own thinking to reasonable solutions of our common problems.
that was another era, when maybe it was really possible to dialogue with those differing in opinion and the likes of NRO might actually publish ideas rather than strive to 'advance agendas'.
long past due, may that era rest in peace alongside of Steven Vincent.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man. - George Bernard Shaw

and it wasn't me!
I STILL refer to myself as moderate: fiscally and environmentally conservative, socially liberal.
My ideals and beliefs are the same as they have always been. by Cho on Sat Aug 06, 2005 at 01:35:00 PM EST [ Parent ]

of course that would detract zero from an honest willingness to hold partisan policy to account. the story might be less spinnable in wingworld, however.
